Abigail Hailu is a Student, Musician, Activist, and Athlete.

Abigail Hailu is a trained classical soprano and member of the Grammy Award winning National Children’s Chorus. She has toured internationally as part of the NCC and performed in Japan and Korea as well as around the United States. She is a high school senior from Los Angeles, California. 

Abigail auditioned for the NCC in 2015 and joined at the Concierto Level. She has been with them ever since and is now at the Scholars Level, the top level. Abigail most enjoys how being a member of the NCC has exposed her to different cultures and music history from around the world. Through her eight years with the NCC, she has also studied musical theory and classical voice training.

Additionally, Abigail has been a pianist since the age of four. Abigail is a first generation American and the eldest sibling in a family with a wonderful teenager with autism. In 2023, founded Black Autism Network. Both of Abigail’s parents are from Ethiopia, and she grew up in a household that spoke English and Amharic, which sparked a love of both traditional Ethiopian music and Ethio-Jazz, particularly the work of pianist Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru.
